THE STORY BEHIND "PETCASSO"

I'm a pet lover. I've always shared my time with a lovable animal. Dogs, cats — sometimes dogs & cats together!

One of my great joys in life is visiting museums to see, study, and marvel at old master paintings. Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres, Rembrandt Van Rijn, Michelangelo Caravaggio, to name just a few. The technique, artistry and skill that goes into capturing a moment in time on canvas with such style is just amazing.

One day, well along into my own artistic career ( working in Advertising), I decided to try and paint my own "masterpiece". But this painting would be a pet painting. I wanted to capture all the glory, beauty, spectacle, feeling, emotion and wonder I felt looking at those old master paintings.

After a month or so of sketching, painting, drawing, late nights and going through my library of old master painting books for reference, I was ready to unveil my work. I produced a beautiful, oil-on-canvas portrait of my two dogs ( at the time ), Simon and Mabel ( above ). I was thrilled with the results!!! I hung the painting on my wall, not giving it much thought, but very happy to see my vision come to life.
Later, on more than one occasion, as friends would visit, they would see the painting on the wall and ask "Where did you buy that gorgeous painting of Simon and Mabel!" An idea was born.

The reactions sparked "Petcasso": an online destination for creating truly unique, lovingly crafted, custom pet portraits to last generations.

Thanks for visiting!!!

Cheers —
